About Wayland, MA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Wayland, Massachusetts was established in 1638 as the first settlement of Sudbury Plantation. It incorporated as a town in 1780 under the name of East Sudbury, and in 1835 changed to its present name to honor Brown University president Dr. Francis Wayland. Notable Wayland residents over the years have included Lydia Maria Child, author of the famous Thanksgiving poem “Over the River and Through the Woods” and minister Edmund Sears, who wrote the words to the Christmas carol “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear”, as well as hockey legend Bobby Orr and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler.

Wayland has the cold, snowy winters and mild summers typical of New England, but springtime weather can be prone to heavy rainstorms. In April 2010, the town's Pelham Island area was so hard-hit by flooding that one of Boston's favorite tourist attractions, the Duck Tours, came to help evacuate stranded residents on their special amphibious vehicles. Wayland annual events include a Strawberry Fair held in June at Community United Methodist Church and the Wayland XC Festival cross-country race in October. Wayland's top attractions include the 1740 Grout-Heard House Museum, home to the Wayland Historical Society, and the Sandy Burr Country Club, established in 1922 and featuring an 18-hole golf course and an English Tudor-style clubhouse.
