About Marlborough, MA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Marlborough, also spelled Marlboro, is a city of about 38,500 residents located in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. It was established in 1657 and incorporated 3 years later, and named for a town in Wiltshire, England. The settlement had some tumultuous early years out on what was then the frontier, and was almost destroyed in 1676 durin King Philip's War. In 1836 Marlborough opened its first shoe factory, and with the boost to this industry given by producing boots for Federal troops during the Civil War, the city grew to be a major shoe manufacturing center by the late 19th century. The shoe industry continued to dominate even into the modern era, with the Rockport Company being founded here in 1971.

Marlborough's attractions include the 1688 Peter Rice Homestead, now home o the Marlborough historical Society, as well as the John Brown Bell, salvaged by Marlborough troops from the firehouse in Harper's Ferry, West Virginia during a Civil War engagement. Marlborough summers are mild and pleasant, but winters are quite cold, and temperatures end to stay down in the teens during January and February. Marlborough nevertheless hosts special events throughout the year, including the springtime Earth Day Fair and annual car show, the summertime Taste of Marlborough and Brewfest event, the largest Labor Day parade in New England, the Marlborough Heritage Festival in autumn and the MetroWest Festival of Trees in winter.
